Contact your state representative immediately
and ask them to vote "yes" on HB
2530. It will be voted on in the Kansas
House of Representatives either Tuesday March
12 or Wednesday, March 13.
HB
2530 would negate physicians and other health
care workers from claims under the Kansas Consumer
Protection Act, as reported in the February 28 KVMA
Legislative Bulletin.
The KVMA staff supported an amendment
to HB
2530 that was discussed in the House Judiciary
Committee when it worked the billed last Thursday.
The KVMA staff and legal counsel feel
the amendment includes veterinarians. The KVMA staff
also asked the committee chairman to include in the
meeting minutes that the bill's legislative intent
was to include veterinarians. He agreed to and it
was made part of the minutes.
